Burning a downloaded programme to CD

I'm rather curious.
I have downloaded various programmes several times in the past which I have then saved on a CD/floppy, depending on size, as a back up before installing it.
When I click on 'Send to' followed by the drive I wish to use, up pops a window to say: This file has additional information which may be lost, etc.(can't remember the full message)
I've had no trouble installing from the disc afterwards so what is the message all about? Is it something I should be bothered about?
