Burn music tracks to a CDR for music cd player

My father wants to transfer his old cassette collection onto CDs so he can listen to them on his in-car music cd player.

1. How do I transfer the tracks from the cassette to the PC? (I have a vague idea it requires an audio cable from the line out/headphone socket of cassette player to the Line In socket on the computer)

2. What is the best software to do the actual Recording? (Is Audacity easy to use?)

3. What format should the tracks be recorded to? (WAV or CD-Audio format)

4. What cd burning software should I use to ensure playability in normal cd players? (Nero or Roxio)

Sorry, should have said that although most of the above threads are titled vinyl to cd it works just the same for cassette players as well.
