I downloaded software which states that I can burn a DVD Video file from my HD to a blank DVD-RW 4.7GB disk but when I tried it, I was told that I do not have a DVD writer. My D drive is a Dell DVD/CDRW Combo drive. So is this correct please?

Probably it is. Seems you have a DVD-ROM/CD-RW combo drive. You should also purchase a DVD Writer such as the multi format LG GSA 4163B which supports recordings on all three DVD formats.

Glad to help. Hope your PC has a spare 5.25" bay to fit another drive or else you may have to remove the combo drive. Either that or use an external drive (which costs more). The current set up would appear to be a DVD Writer and a DVD-ROM drive. Note that the DVD writers will also record to CD-R.
