how good is the bullguard?

Excellent - the best paid for Internet suite that I have ever used.

Prior to this I had all different sorts and most of them slowed my system down terribly. Particularly Norton.

Before I loaded Bullguard I carried out some timings on my PC and then after I had loaded it. Virtually no difference.

What follows is a copy of an email you sent me:-'i am a new to pc user do i have to now delete norton which i had on a free trial?'

It is always best to post your queries here rather than by email as it may help others who are having similar problems.

In response to your query the answer is yes, ideally. After disconnecting from the internet use add remove programs to get rid of Norton. If you have a problem removing it a tool is available on the Symentec site. When removed install your new security software and then connect to the internet to update it.
