Built-in LAN error Device cannot start (Code 10)

I recently built a new system from scratch using the ASUS PC4800E Deluxe, after booting it for the first time and installing XP, I am unable to get the LAN port to work. I have enabled it in the BIOS (the latest PC4ED15) and downloading the latest drivers (using another PC), I am unable to get it to work because of the code 10 error. No matter how many times I reboot or uninstall, it just does not start. The type of network interface is the PRO/1000 CT Network Connection.

If I unistall the device, it is detected through PnP as an Ethernet controller. Other than the BIOS, I do not see any jumpers etc that deal with the LAN port.

Any advice would be appreciated.
