I am building another PC and I have a budget which I am nearly over, I am not sure if I should keep in my budget and use a 1800+ AMD Ahlon XP or go over it and get a 2000+.

I have 512Mb DDR 333, 80Gb 7200RPM HDD and XP pro.

Is there much difference in performance and should I pay the extra for the 2000+ or would it be just a waste of money when a 1800+ would do the job.

I do do some Photo editing and play the odd games.

Thankyou,

I'd stick with the 1800, from what i've read here to notice a difference in processors speed the difference in size hsa to be a bit bigger than the ones stated

It is only a budget PC, I already have a 2600+ but I do not need anymore of them it is jus to take to a Holiday home I have.

Thanks, I will stick with a 1800+ as it saves a lot of money anyway.

From what you say about the price difference, I am not sure where you are purchasing from. If you cast your eyes over Komplett click here you will find the difference in price between the 2000XP and 1800XP to be about £5.00! (£48.42 Inc Vat as opposed to £55.00)

The difference becomes more apparent when you compare the 1800 with say the 2100 at about £20.00 difference. However, as stated, the actual benifit in these is not much.
