BT WiFi Hotspot Dongle Plugged Into Old Desktop Help Please.

  uggly 20:10 11 Jun 14

My friends live in a rural area where the maximum landline broadband speed is 1.2mbps or worse. However, in their village there is a BT WiFi hotspot and I'm going to use my own laptop to measure the speed of it which I believe is considerably faster than the 1.2mbps. My intention is to give them my six old desktop running Vista and run it off a dongle using my own BT account to give them access.

Assuming my measurements of the signal are reasonably good, and given the age of my computer, what kind of dongle - preferably with an extended aerial - would I need to buy for them to use BT WiFi please? Would I need any further equipment for them to get online with?

I thank you very much for your help.
