BT Voyager 100/ Netgear MR814v2

I am using AOL on a BT Voyager100 external modem.
I then thought it would be good idea to purchase a wireless router a Netgear MR814v2 so that I could use my laptop anywhere in the house.Although I have an Ethernet connection on my PC I find that the modem needs an RJ45 ethernet connection instead of the USB. can I get round this with a USB/Ethernet adapter or am I sunk.
