BT Router and Zonealarm

  Amer 12:02 15 Jun 06

BT recently sent me a new router and upgraded my Broadband connection from 2 meg to 8 meg.

I am getting an intermittent connection to internet/e mail and after going through help desk etc. have narrowed the problem down to Zone alarm. If I switch it off, I get relaible connection.

My question is what programme/function should I allow access to in order for internet to work properly.

I have already added IE explorer and E mail programme (Outlook), but it keeps sayimg it has blocked SVHOST.exe from accessing internet. What is this and is this the programme I should allow access for to cure problem?

All was fine on old broadband modem .

Any help appreciated

if you go to "start" "run" and type in "cmd" the next page you get up, type in "ipconfig" that will give you the IP address, put that into the trusted zone of zone alarm...
