I have a new BT Home Hub that connects to my main computer via Ethernet cable. Good service & speed, no worries.
Kids wanted the internet on their computer so I fitted a Belking G 802.11g Desktop Card to their computer (running XP). All fitted correctly and hardware manager is happy the device is trouble free.
However, having detected the right connection and entered the key and having seen that I am getting an excellent / very good signal strength, I can stay connected for no more than a minute before connection is lost. Also when it is connected it will not access the internet by either explorer or firefox. I have gone through various advice forums such as the unofficial BT Hub and followed to the letter all the set up and connection advice will no success, any advice out there before I go mad or the kid's linch me ?

hi sidcomp918....
this is a difficult one to answer as there are so many variables to take into account.

most common things to check would be...
interferance... anything that might interfere with the signal ie.mobile phones, digital phones, metal objects (tower case).

also make sure the router is passing an i.p.address to the pc ...sometimes the connection will sit for ages trying to get the ip address from the router .
and will appear to be connected ,but is just trying to get the i.p. from the router .

I.Explorer make sure the lan settings in connections are set to auto detect settings .Dave
