BT Broadband Speed Increase?

  lukealexander 21:18 03 Mar 05

I currently have BT Broadband 512kbps, and read they are uprgrading all these users to 2mbps. However my line only supports 1mbps (apparently). Can BT continue to charge me the same rate (£25pcm) for a service running at half the speed to those customers with 2mbps?
With this in mind, would anyone recommend moving to Telewest Broadband 2mbps or 4mbps?

Taken from BT site.

From 24 March 2005, we'll begin automatically upgrading existing BT Broadband customers to the fastest speed available - up to 1Mb.

Your best bet is to get in touch with BT, but take into account that most of their speed increases will take a few months to appear.

Also take into account that if your line can only support 1Mbps then that will be the same for all broadband suppliers (excluding cable suppliers that use fibre optics).
