BSOD on a SATA Drive

dont know why but my SATA drive has just decided it dont want to work every time i boot up with it BSOD appears with the following error "Driver_irql_not_less_or_equal

Viamraid.sys stop 0x000000D1 (0c00000030, 0x00000006, 0x00000000, 0xf82cb9ao)

the hard dirve is a maxtor 250gb does any one have any ideas

maxblast3 is the util for dealing with maxtor hard drives, but im not sure if it would be any good for you. might be worth a look at but be careful as it the set of tools used to return a hard drive to factory condition so you could do some damage without due care.

does windows try to load or is it just a dos type error report?

boots up goes throught the splash screen then BSOD i'm also running windows xp

It could be a driver conflict and related to your HDD

Right click my computer, select manage and then click on the plus sign of event viewer, then click on system.

Now on the right hand side you will see the errors

Come back and advise what they are please

the problem is i cant tell you as i have had to remove it due to the fact it wont let me log in so i'm using a back up drive

i have gone throught the event log and found this

ok i really need help on this i'm using a back upi disc and i need to know how the hell i get my sata drive back on line as it has alot of files need on it please any one help

Have you tried the drive as a slave and copying your files to the backup drive?

If you are getting the windows splash screen press F6 and reload the sata drivers. The sata drivers need to be loaded the same way as scsi drivers. Don't know if thats any help but I had a similar issue earlier this year and reloading the drivers at the start screen did the job.
