I keep getting an error messageevery time I boot up Internet Explorer which says:

"Your browser session closed unexpectedly".

Then I am asked:

"Would you like to return to your last session or go to your home page?"

This has only happended since mvoing to IE8 and as far as I am awar eI am closing down as normal.

Any ideas?

I recommend Resetting Internet Explorer. Note: This will delete your Browser History
1.Open Internet Explorer
2.Click on Tools
3.Click on Internet Options
4.Click on Advanced
5.Click on Reset
6.Reboot the computer

I have the same problem as yourself.
Ive had it since using W/7 last November and no nearer a fix.

Now this works but could cause problems at a later date.

In Internet Explorer go to:

Tools - Internet Options, and click on the Advanced Tab.

Scroll down to 'Browsing'.

The eighth line down says, "Enable automatic crash recovery." Clear the
check box next to it, and that should solve your problem.

Like I said that works but don't know what would happen if your computer eventually crashed.

buteman - there is a LINK here about that - click here

buteman - " don't know what would happen if your computer eventually crashed"

This relates to I.E.7 but probably would be the same for V.8 - click here

As far as I know there is no fix for Your browser session closed unexpectedly.
The only remedy I know of is the one I posted but it is not a fix and could cause problems at a later date.
I know it works as I have tried it but as it is not a proper fix i have change it back again.
The pop up is a nuisance but just have to get on with it until a fix is available.

I can untick it in Advanced your first click here does not work with my version of W/7.
Like i said I have had it since last December and so far have not found another way to remove it.
Mind you I gave up looking after a while.
But after doing another Google search I can't find anything different to try.
So will leave EFC1878 to get on with it and hope he has more luck than me.

Re-setting your IE browser to "Reset" is safe, but you will lose any changes you had made to IE

Thanks as ever for the considered advice.

I think I will a have a go at the suggestion in the link from Buteman/Sea Urchin and failing that the other suggested options.

I will let you know how I get on

Cheers
