Browser download estimation box query

  CurlyWhirly 14:42 20 Jul 05

While downloading the Google Earth utility I happened to notice that in the browser download estimation box there was the following text:

'Estimated time left not known'

There is normally an estimation of the time left for the download to take place and I have never seen this before.

Is there a reason for this message?
Just curious.

I am guessing that the site was busy at the time and and this was the cause of the message?

Hi CurlyWhirly

Don't worry, it's nothing your end that's at fault, it's the server you are downloading from. When you start a download, it is supposed to supply you with the file size, but some are not properly configured and don't release it.

You'll find if you download something else from a totally different site, it should work OK.
