i have an external hard drive that was plugged into my computer just to store music and pictures on. the other day it just stopped working for no reason and now i cannot access it.

is there any way of getting the information off this drive?

Depends on what the problem is.

If the hard drive itself is still OK, you could buy a compatible drive enclosure or try installing it in the PC itself.

If the hard drive is duff, apart from contacting a service that specialises in data retrieval in such circumstances (quite expenive), your stuck.

Many people would use an external HDD as a backup for what is on the PC - presumably you aren't in this situation.

it was already in an enclosure purly coz i couldnt find space in the computer itself.
only got it for extra storage space
