brodband modem connection problem!!

  VALLEY1 21:32 15 Mar 03

I have just purchased a freeserve broadband internet package which uses the COPPERJET 800 USB ADSL MODEM.
Shortly after running the cd-rom Im asked to plug in the modem to my USB. When I do this the computer shuts down and reboots only to reveal the dreaded blue screen, which contains the following... IRQL_NO_LESS_OR_EQUAL also

0*0000000A (0*00000854 0*00000002 0*00000001 0*804E9E0C)

I have run other peripherals via usb sockets, and this is ok.
Freeserve and microsoft are none the wiser to the problem. PLEASE HELP!
