Broadband speeds

I have 3 PC's connected to BTOpenworld broadband through a router. Two are running Windows XP and the adslguide.org speedtest gives speeds on both of 480kb/s, more or less the maximum. However, one PC running Windows 98 returns a speed of about 120kb/s. All three are connected in the same way by network cable.
What might be the cause of the slow download speeds on the Windows 98 PC?

Try a speed test from another site like click here

I've tried broadband speed tests from several sources. They all give the same result - the Windows 98PC downloads at about 1/3 the speed of the other two machines.

Have you tried changing the router conections around?

I tried it this morning - plugged one of the Windows XP machines into each router port in turn - all gave speeds between 470 & 490kbs. Could it be some process running on the 98 PC that is slowing it down? All are running the same firewall and anti-virus programs?
