Broadband Speed Question?

  darkster 18:23 02 Apr 04

Hi all, This may sound like a stupid question; I am using ntl cable modem Broadband 600k!!?? sharing my connection between two networked PCs. Recently (since I connected the other PC) the download speeds have seemed to drop. Is this because I am sharing the connection? only a work colleague says that it shouldn't make any difference on 600K.
Thanks in advance

between computers there will be a drop-off in performance at each computer - they're contending for the available bandwidth.

This will be apparent only when both machines are downloading at the same time (or uploading), although depending on conditions at the time the difference in speed may or may not be that detectable.

Thanks a lot. That is as I suspected. Just needed to hear it from someone in the know.
Thanks again.
