What is the best speed meter icon to constantly monitor speed when browsing. Just seen a speed meter on todays BBC news programme about connection speeds which shows a speed meter running on the left side of the screen in form of a small dial which shows speed of on-line browsing.
Any ideas plse which one it is?

I am on 4mb with NTL cable at the moment and all three of the above tests come in at 3.9.

This a more strenuous test, You should not use computer while running it nor have programs running.

Hi provider 2 has shown BBC News/technology which shows video 2 clips of the shortened report. Unfortunately it misses the picture of a laptop screen running a 'real time' broadband meter indicating the browser speed continually and not a one off snap shot.
Still looking for this 'cool' addition

I think what your after looks like a rev. counter and I am sure it was on the Gadget Show earlier in the year. When they were testing bb speeds. It may look cool but running it while surfing will slow you down.

At the risk of hijacking the thread. Orange is not shown on the list and when I put details in as requested the test refused to accept them.

When i used the Dan Elwell speed tester i got a "run-time error '11' division by zero" whatever that is, tried it 3 times with the same result each time..

Here`s one with a couple of dials if you like that sort of thing. None of them ever guarantees absolute accuracy, however.
