it should read at least 512kb/s. Have you got your old modem still connected to your phone line?

Try pulling the cable out so that you cannot run your dialup connection by mistake.

My old modem cable is pulled out, i think your missing the point, i'm running at 2.2mbps which is a lot faster than 512kps, i was just wondering why it was saying that it was running at that speed when i know for sure my internet connection is not. Sorry if that sounds a bit blunt.

Lucky you. Try running a speed test at click here

The 2.2 mb/s is probably the (maximum) speed of your LAN.

Try a test click here

I ran speed test ang everything reads as it should, its not rally a problem just a bit distracting when its reading 2.2mbps when i know thats not the true connection speed.

The 2.2 mb/s is probably the (maximum) speed of your LAN.

That may be the case but my friend subscribes to the same package and his doesn't read 2.2mbps just 512kps or there abouts.

Mine reads "100.0 Mbps". My actual connection speed is a mere 4 mb/s.

As stated by VoG™ this is the max (possible) speed of your line, not what you are connecting at i.e if you want too, you could upgrade to 2MB, your friend on the other hand may be limited to 512
