Broadband and sending fax - problem?

  compumac 17:44 16 Jan 06

I currently am on broadband through an ADSL router. I have an internal modem and when I send a fax I plug the phone connection in and send the fax O.K.and then remove that connection.
I have all the usual antivirus, firewalls, antispyware etc.
(Silly??) Question - If my Internet connection is via broadband, can using the internal modem and that connection leave me open to attack?
I am sure that the answer is obvious but I am having a bad day - computerwise

NO - you are not making an internet connection for your fax call - it's just a telephone call from one system to a fax machine. No chance whatsoever for there to be anywhere in the line that a virus could come from.
