Broadband with router - how to set it up

I'm getting BT Openworld Broadband shortly and have ordered the modem and filters from them. I want to connect 2 laptops running XP and a desktop running 98 using a router so no single PC has to act as the hub. My preference is a wired network as wireless for 3 Pc's will be expensive [unless someone wants to prove me wrong]

I'm having trouble finding a plain English book, magazine or even bulletin board explaining how I have to set it all up. Does anyone know of a suitable publication/on line explanation of the process?

This site will get you started - click here - although most 'big name' manufacturers have very good instructions supplied with the router, as well as on their website.
