Broadband Queerie

Hi can anyone help,
I have just upgraded to a 20mb broadband connection with Virgin Media and am puzzled as to whether I can receive the full amount whilst I am using My Belkin 54g wireless router ( i am however using it as a wired ethernet router and not using the wireless feature and connected are my laptop and desktop only) I have tried the belkin site but no joy.
I suppose the question I have is can my router handle 20 meg or should I return to the 2 meg I had before.
Many thanks in advance.

I doubt that your downstream transfer rate will get near 20Mb very often. All kinds of factors will affect the connection speed.

...with VM it is a bit hit&miss. Before they offered 20 Meg, things were bad enough but when they announced the upramp in house, the staff were all going crazy, saying 'we're not ready for such a jump yet.'

You'll be lucky to get 12 Meg, even on the 'theoretical' 20 Meg model.

I'm with VM on up to 8Mb/s and my line can only achieve appx. 4.7 of which I get appx 2.9 regularly.
