Broadband Initial connection query

I have been using AOL Boradband for about a month now and with no problems however in the last weeks or so I have noticed that when I start my PC the initial connection time seems to have gone up. (By initial connection I mean green lights in tray instead of yellow or grey not actual log on to AOL) It now takes up to 1 1/2 minutes whereas it used to take anout 10 seconds. Anyone else notice the same or is this usual or can anyone offer a solution to a irritating problem albeit not serious problem?
Thanks

The lights are an indication of sync. Your modem is taking a long time to synchronize with the exchange modem. If it is a USB modem, unplug all other USB devices. It may be deprived of power.

Thanks, although I have not added any other hardware via USB. I only have printer and modem using them and that has always been the case. Any other causes?
