Can anyone explain why i get this speed today when for the past 2 months both AOL and BT insist my line is not physically capable of more than 0.250kbps.?

AOL Are telling you lies

Can you post your line stats from your router if possible please?

Looking At your stats here

You look to be on a fixed 2meg deal here but with with a 58.5 Line Attenuation You are only able to get 3meg from that line your Nose Margin of 10 is a wee problem can you check your internal wiring?

Rob...

Yes I am a fixed 2meg deal but never get anywhere near that, which I understand is due to the distance I am from the exchange, no problem with that except, the figures quoted by AOL and BT of 0.250kbps as the Maximum I can get don't ring true if I am again today getting 1.2 Mbs.

As for the internal wiring, this was done by BT engineer about 18 months ago and he fitted a ADSL v10 box which contains internal filter, the only other extension used is fitted with a filter which I have changed just recently in order to ensure it was ok. I am not connected to Sky line so no filter required there.

My router is connected to my main BT socket via a 1 metre cable.

I just cannot understand why all of a sudden my speed goes up from approx.0.3 Mbs to 1.21 Mbs and maintains that speed which, incidently, I find more than adequate for my needs, albeit, I cannot do much streaming from Iplayer and the like, but not to worry I do live out in the sticks so not expected really.

Cheers
