I have two networked pcs using one as a server. To be able to use the internet the server hosting the broadband modem needs to be turned on. what options do I have so i can just have the the pc turned on without the server. I think a external modem with a switch? what systems work and how do i do it?

Thx

You need a router. See click here for a diagram

Have a look at the 'how to network' section.

Using a router is the best option if you do not want both pc's on all the time.
