Broadband blues........

I was thinking I might upgrade to BB from dial-up.
I'm on AOL so I typed in my phone number and it came up with:

"Congratulations! You are able to receive AOL Silver 512Kbps"

but, when I click "proceed" I get this message:

"Thank you for your interest in AOL Broadband.

Initial tests on your line indicate that it is VERY UNLIKELY that you will be able to receive AOL Broadband due to the distance of your home from the local exchange.

You can still place an order, but an engineer will need to visit to determine if you are able to receive AOL Broadband."

Is it worth applying or will it just be a waste of time? Incidentally, my friend (just a few hundred yards away!) gets 2MbBB over her phone line!

Thanks Jailbird

By all means apply. These tests are carried out by robots, and sometimes they don't listen.

Check the line using BTs Broadband phone line checker click here

If you go to

click on BT Broadband.

when you get to te next page, scroll down to near the bottom.

There you will see a space to enter your telephone number

It will tell you if you are able to obtain BB or not, and at what speed.

You don't have to enrol with BT Broadband to use it.

Hope this elps.
