Brightness in Windows Media Player? How?

Hiya, I'm running Windows Media Player 9 (fully up to date), on Windows XP Pro and wish to know how to adjust the brightness within WMP.

I know where to find the option, but when I most the sliders, they ping back to their default (central) position thus not allowing me to make the required changes.

Any ideas?

The same happens on mine. Have you tried adjusting them when you are watching a video clip/dvd etc?

I rarely use WMP but out of curiousity I just had a poke around.I am on version 8 and I also have the settings for brightness, etc return from whence they came as soon as I release them.
