Bootup Problem

  saxman 11:15 02 Oct 05

I am running a 2nd hand Presario 700 Laptop with WinXP Home. When I bootup I arrive at the point where the desktop screen appears then I receive the message 'Unable to open the file E:\CDManifest.dat'. I click on Cancel and it disappears and all seems well. I have checked 'Ctl+Alt+Del'and 'Start Up' and I can't find any named processes with a similar name. Can anyone help me correct this please?

OK try this ,Start, run, type in "configsys" (no quotes" click on the tab at the top "Start up" scroll down and look for the entry that is causing the problem and disable it,then click apply/ok you will then get a box up to tell you that said box will appear after booting to desktop just click don't remind me again then ok,then reboot. It sound like you have a startup programme trying to access a cd/dvd drive "E" (unless you have a hard drive/partition E?)Hope this helps..

I have the same problem but CDManifest.dat isn't listed in Start up.
