It's a hidden file so you'll have to have windows show you hidden files and folders.

Start, run, type: notepad C:\boot.ini

Click OK.

Start, Control Panel, System, Advanced, Settings [third], Edit

Posted this yesterday click here tried everything advised but no luck.Put disk in as a slave in another computer and i am able to see it.All the stuff i put in yesterday through the Recovery Console (NTLDR, and new boot.ini) are shown as separate files outside the OS files.I was wondering if i could revise existing files to get the disk to boot.Is this a stupid proposal ?

Windows XP also needs the system files in /Windows and /Windows/System32 to boot up regardless of whether Boot.ini specifies a path.

I dont think this would work- though I could be wrong.
