I am trying to install linux (click here) from an iso on a cd i burn't. The iso i have came from a cover disc and it told me to burn it to a disc and boot from the disc. I have changed the boot order in the bios and nothing has happened. I can hear the disc spinning but it wont boot from it.

Does anyone know if I could make a floppy that will tell the pc to boot from the cd drive.

Did you make sure it was an ISO format that you burned to disk, and did you save the changes before exiting the BIOS.

The only way to boot from CD is change boot order in BIOS, which you have done. I looks like the CD drive is struggling to read the disk.

1. Clean the disk

2. Clan the drive with a CD lens cleaner

3. Try to burn another on a different make of disk.

If you just used the standard Windows cd burning wizard it won't work as you have to do it in a special way that Windows can't.Download the free Deepburner from click here and then install it. Run it and choose to burn an iso image file, then select th iso and burn it to a cd. Try to boot from this.

Apologies if you've burnt it in the right way and it doesn't work. But you have to cover all the bases ;o).

Is it Mepis? If so there is a trouble shooting section on their site.

As they ask, are you sure that you burned the ISO correctly?

That's why it won't boot.

Do you have nero? Failing that, download Deepburner and it will do it for you.
