boot up shut down win xp

when booting up. win xp gets about half way through then a message flashes up. the only bit of text i can read is "searching for network" the pc then closes down,it then starts normally.

Does the error message appear on a blue screen? If so, right-click on My Computer, click Properties, click the Advanced tab. Under "Startup & Recovery", click Settings. Under "System Failure", uncheck the box in front of "Automatically restart". THe next time, you should have time to read the error message.

Please post the exact error message here.

hi problem has returned a windows xp message box appears with the message "please wait preparing network connections" then it stops booting and shuts down
