Boot problem

My PC [Windows XP Home SP2] suddenly won't boot up. It gets to a screen "Intel Celeron Inside" logo, and then just stops. Any ideas why, and how to fix this?

Woodchip - Have tried, but no luck. The "Intel" screen comes up very early in the boot process.

Remove the Hard Drive Cables and see how far it boots

Sorted - I unplugged all peripherals, and it booted fine. Found it was a faulty scanner. Not sure why that should cause boot problem, but all is now fine.
