Boot Problem

I have reactivated a PC which has lain dormant for 9 months. the only problem is that it will only boot from the Windows disc. The Bios says that the HDD-0 is the first boot option and CD Rom second. Once booted everything is OK.
Any suggestions (non rude!) would be appreciated.
Thanks

What OS are you putting on?

It could be that the master boot record is damaged: Microsoft Windows XP - Repairing Damaged MBRs and Boot Sectors in x86-based Computers

You could try opening the bios changing the boot order then changing it back again,it may just need a nudge.
