boot up problem

P3 500, uknown motherboard. 64 Mb ram win ME. Added 256Mb memory. On boot-up recognises memory but get message-file VMM32.VXD missing run setup again. Re-installed ME. Same message. Removed 256 stick runs OK. Add 256Mb-same message. Re-install win same again

Try it with just the 256Mb memory, without the 64Mb.

If it still fails you have either got an incompatible memory module, or a faulty one.

If it works but shows up as 128Mb, you have the wrong type of memory.

Good advice from DieSse, and when you`ve got it working properly Google for Belarc Adviser run it, print the results and you`ll learn a lot about you PC includingthe type of motherboard you`ve got. Good luck mate
