Attempting a system change on a Win8 machine.

Boot up CD drive runs

A flicker of the new system intro screen shows

Then the drive stops and machine boots to default .

Legacy monde in place.

Any ideas?

I'm guessing you've done the standard thing of giving the CD a good rub with a soft cloth?

Will do.

It is a 'new ISO burn to DVD

It may also be worth re-burning the DVD at the slowest speed your drive will allow.

When you say 'system change', do mean a reinstall? If so, that can be done without a CD using windows 8's own restore partition?

On the limit

You were right ,note were

The idea was to dual boot with a Linux option

How ever instead of dual it has 'killed' Win8 --no loss it is ahorrible. System.

Windows 8.1 with Classic Shell to make it look like W7 is fine!
