I have been passed an old Packard Bell computer which has a problem that I can't get to the bottom of. When it boots up it goes thru the process okay and after a short time it beeps and reboots again. When it starts up again the desktop appears and I can enter programs for a short period and then beep, it rebbots again. There is no specific time in between booting up but I don't seem to be able to work it out. Any help would be appreciated.

From memory I think it is Cyrix 300mhz processor

Try search for "restarts" on this site, quite a
few threads and may help but suggest:
-check memory fully inserted, especially if computer moved recently (make sure youre earthed).
-could be overheating, check fan running ok and maybe also dust etc now clogging thinks up,
-ensure virus definitions upto date and run virus scan just in case.
-for bios beeps info try click here
