bluray, power dvd and windows aero

This is an interesting one!
I have windows vista 32-bit home premium, cyberlink powerdvd BD+HD 2CH with an LG blu-ray drive, and an ATI Radeon HDI 2600 Pro graphics card, loads of RAM and an AMD phenom processor. Today, I rented my first blu-ray disc. I updated the drivers from cyberlink and ATI. The thing is, as soon as I attempt to play the disc, I get the message "the colour scheme has changed to windows vista basic" and everything on the screen breaks up. Sound is fine. But here's the thing - if I'm watching windows media centre at the same time, it's fine! No message, no visual break up, nothing! What's goiong on, and how can I fix it?
