What makes you think thhat it is the modem driver? Do you get an error message?

I presume this is a Surfboard cable modem.

webstar modem

But what makes you think that the modem driver turns off the computer? More details requirewd about the "error".

just reinstalled win xp
no problems all works great.
install blueyonder and go on line and the computer turns off could happen any time.
sends error report and says its the modem driver
& gives updates to down load
but they make no diffrance M/Soft say its the driver?

it's more than likely the scientific atlanta webstar dpx 100, same as mine on blueyonder. The driver for it and the update from microsoft have never given me any problems. There have been reported problems about disconnection which seem to be quickly resolved by an unplug and reset, nothing i've noticed about switching pc's off.

Hmm, i have just read my thread back and it provides no help at all to you, sorry about that.

thanks sidecar sid
