Could any one advise what connection speed would be available using a Bluetooth enabled mobile phone and laptop for mobile internet access ?

The best outlook currently is GPRS which has a best speed of 171.2 Kbps compared to Bluetooth at 723 Kbps. Thus the limiting factor is the phone and the network.

This might translate to a "browsing" speed of 10,000 bytes per second tops complete with following wind. A domestic ADSL link will give you fives times that.

And so far it's a promise...and only for those with very deep pockets.

The internet experience using what is available now is something you might not want.
