Blue screen (of death??)

Win XP. On startup, a very nice shade of light blue covers the middle section of my screen. The notification informs me that one or more of my discs needs to be checked for consistancy????
There is a fault with the OE Delete Items.dbx (removal and installation of OE6 doesn't help one jot).
Also on this screen Windows decides to veryfy free space - (100GB), got to 2% after 15 mins so reboot and press Shift+Tab.
Once this is done everything works fine apart from occasionaly the delete button in OE forces OE to Abandon all hope.
Can anyone tell me how to get rid of this blue screen.
Thank you in anticipation. Chris

the OE deleted files dbx is tucked away in C:\Documents and Settings\Your Name\Local Settings\Application Data\Identities\{96379-blah blah-CD6C8EA1}\Microsoft\Outlook Express, open that folder and you could try removing it, i suggest backing it up first, and see if that helps,.
