blue screen

I have a Dell 9100 with 2gb memory running XP Home. Pc boots to Windows logon screen normally. If left at this screen, eventually a blue exception screen occurs saying an error has occurred and Windows is shutting down to protect my computer. Strangely this doesn't occur if someone logs on, uses the computer and then logs off again and leaves the computer at that logon screen. Anyone else had any similar problem?

What's the stop code ? And are any filenames ending .sys shown in the message on the blue screen?
