Hello, I am running XP Home SP2 and do a small amount of gaming on my Dell inspiron 1000. I started it three days ago and got a blue screen saying that XP was checking my disk and it ran a three part check and then continued the startup in the normal way. The machine is running as normal and I wondered if my hard drive was showing signs of ware as it's only been in a year and it was an upgrade on the old one. Please advise

This check normally kicks in if the machine was not turned off correctly, for example a power cut/surge etc.
I doubt there is anything major wrong here.

if you can find out the make/model of the harddrive, look for the hdd diagnostic tools like the Seagate tools.
