Blue fluorescent tubes on Duron tower.

I have bought a new Duron computer but no one can tell me why it has got a blue fluorescent light down each side. They is so bright that I have to turn the tower to face the wall. They can be turned off by a switch at the back but one tube has become very dim. Is it safe to leave them switched off? I have heard that they are for cooling purposes but the computer still works with them off.It does not seem to overheat.

The fluorescent tubes are probably just there for show. I cannot imagine that they have a particular function. If they have an off swith, and the PC runs fine without them - leave 'em off!
What say anyone else?

They are supposed to look cool. Not for cooling the comp! Turn erm off.

Yes as above. They are just for show, the better ones can look very atractive with a cool low light that will just add to the lighting of the desktop and keyboard but some are so bright you can light the room with them. :o(
