block a web site

There is a specific website which I do not want my laptop to access.
Is there any way I can do it?
I tried using mcafee firewall but i seem to need an ip address which i dont know how to find

Put the website in your restricted zone or Hosts file, bert52a. You can easily find a site's IP address if you go to Start > Run and type in:

CMD

and click OK. Then when the window opens, type:

ping "the website's name"

and press the Return key on your keyboard.

Don't use the quotation marks after ping, bert52a.

Which site do you want to block? If you post the name of the site someone will give you it's IP address and you can then use your firewall to block it. If you have entered it correctly in the Hosts file, it should be blocked.
