Blaster Worm

Had the big system shutdown a few days ago.
Norton reported:

"Date: 20/04/2004, Time: 19:25:52, SYSTEM on XYZ
The file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TFTP328
is infected with the W32.Blaster.E.Worm virus.
Unable to repair this file."

"Date: 20/04/2004, Time: 19:25:52, SYSTEM on XYZ
The file
C:\WINDOWS\system32\TFTP328
is infected with the W32.Blaster.E.Worm virus.
Access to the file was denied."

A full system scan shows up nothing. Am I paranoid
or is it Nortons bad grammar at fault?
"access denied" by whom and to whom.

Am I infected or not?
Running XP,up to date V.defs, etc.

Regards

Once you have managed to neutralise Blaster, suggest you download the blaster patch from Microsoft. Try here click here

Re installed XP the other day and afterwards collected my first e mails. had never had virus before but got worm. Had same responce from norton as you. Very annoying as it could not be got rid of as it could not be deleted or sometimes found, even after patch loaded. Do not konw where it came from as ISP scans for Virus. !!

Well you cant say this Helproom doesn't do what it says on the tin <G>
Thanks to you both, esp Lionheart for the "easy" links. This is bookmarked for friends and colleagues.
Ran the tool and it reports NO Blaster Worm on my system. This begs the question - why on earth did NAV report my file was infected and was unable to repair?
As stated, I have up to date definitions via "live update". Comes down to Nortons bad use of English grammar. If infection was prevented it should say so.
Learnt a lot from this - many thanks.
