Bizarre sound problems XP and certain animations

Hooo Boy!! I have a dual boot system with 98SE and XP. Everything works fine on 98SE. I have downloaded every conceivable driver i could want for XP system and its running along just fine except for the sound. I have definatley got the right driver but every time an animation (such as a flash animation) or mouse movement across the screen occurs whilst music is playing (from desktop application like Media Player)this weird crackling noise occurs. If the screen is not "in a window" ie fullscreen like when using hardware accelerated screensavers there is no problem at all. Has anyone experienced this before? I have a soundblaster 5.1 card and i have the latest drivers downloaded from Creative. My motherboard has its onboard sound disabled. I have the latest motherboard drivers too.
