I have an ASUSTeK Computer INC. A7V266-E motherboard.

I want to save my current 1004b bios and then update to 1011 as this should resolve my restart issues (I have an AMD XP1900 running XP Home)

I have copied the aflash.exe application to a floppy disk and followed the instructions on the website.

But when I type aflash.exe from the a: prompt, I get the following message:

"Error! This program can't run under protected mode"

Anyone got any advice?

Thanks

Does the BIOS have any settings that disable overwriting, as a protection?

Do you have an anti-virus running?

There's a lot of stuff here click here but have you tried checkign the FAQ's?

There must be a virus protection mode on bios to stop things over righting it you will need to disable this first should be in manual how to do this and it should/may give you the option to save the original bios before you install new one ,but be aware one mistake and ........

good luck.
