Just got my TIME laptop back from being fixed, but its been almost six months since i last used it and consequently have totally forgotton my boot password. Will removing the motherboard password clear it or not? any known backdoor passwords? really apprectiate any comments!

Yes. There is usually a jumper on the motherboard to return the bios to its original (no password) state. Failing this, remove the battery for a short time.
