Bios not loaded but PC still loads Windows

On start up the mortheboard attempts to detect the IDE drives. I then get this message

Device not found! Bios not installed.

The computer then happily loads Windows XP and everything seems to be working OK. I have flashed the bios with the latest version but the same message appears. Has anyone got any thoughts or suggestions please?

My motherboard is an Asus A8V Deluxe. Everything else on the cmputer appears to be working properly

Possibly your hard drive is SATA and thus as no drive is present on the IDE controller you get this message. Either instal a drive, disable the controller in the bios or put up with the message which is really only advisory and not an error.

Thanks for the advice Batch & Quiet Life. I don't have SATA drives but I have now changed BIOS settings and message no longer appears
